New Appointee to California State Board of Education

On February 25, 2000, Governor Gray Davis appointed Nancy Ichinaga, Principal of Bennett-Kew Elementary, to a position on the California State Board of Education.

This significant move demonstrates the Governor's continuing support for high level, effective instruction for all children.

Mrs. Ichinaga's school has a long record of academic success based on the use of well planned teacher-directed instruction, with a significant concentration on early reading programs based on systematic, explicit phonics and direct instruction in mathematics.
